Dr. Smith served Rust at a critical time in its history and the history of the State of Mississippi. For the College, it was the period in which the sponsoring church was deciding if the College should continue or be closed. Dr. Smith loved his alma mater, the 'Old Royal White and Blue'. He was generous in his giving to the College.

Rust College celebrates the life of Mary Frances Allen Hathorne

The longest serving employee at Rust, Hathorne retired from the college last year after 63 years of meritorious service to the school. The College is establishing the Frances Allen Hathorne Endowed Scholarship Fund. Contributions can be made to the Office of Development, attention: Dr. Ishmell H. The first set was played at an up tempo pace. Kills were hit, balls were saved and bodies hit the floor with thunderous thuds. With sound defenses of brick wall blocks and awesome digs it was apparent that both teams meant business. The crowd was electrified as these ladies went to work.
